Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and useful External Backup This is my 3rd such drive, All 3 provide external Backup to my PC, the others are perhaps 2 years old and 4TB HDD drives. The new Drive is 6TB, as ever capacity keeps increasing whilst prices stay more or less the same. I am very pleased with Seagate drives, they have proved to be very reliable. There are two USB 3.0 sockets on these drives to "piggyback" other devices, a useful bonus,

power on/off

i need to be able to power the drive on and off anytime but i see no on/off button.is there one on the power cable and is it safe to just switch it off obviously when not actually writing or reading?
