Not new disks
Concur with previous reviewer. I bought 4 of these and all of them had around 2000 hours power on time so they aren't new. Contacted HGST directly who confirmed this isn't normal.
Scan service was very good when informed of the issue, they collected the disks, refunded me with no issues and were very apologetic.

The best, reasonably priced 6TB HDD you can get
There are bigger HDD around but they are helium-filled which means they are much more expensive. If you want the biggest HDD with the best price-performance ratio, look no further. Not to mention it is made by HGST, the most reliable HDD manufacturer.
One thing to note is that the HDD I received was manufactured 17 months ago. I trust HGST HDD so I am not particularly bothered by this but some people might not like receiving an old HDD.

Be aware these are not new harddisks
Instead of a new hard disk I received the one which was probably recycled in some way. The disk was not in manufacturers packaging (sealed antistatic bag). S.M.A.R.T. information showed that the disk was 1922 times powered up and 1954 hours powerup time. When contacting scan the representative said that these disks are all like this.

Great speed, high heat; here's to its longevity
HGST 6TB is fast and relatively quiet for its class. The price is also same if not slightly lower than other competitors like WD or Seagate. The heat issue does add a few (5-8) degree celsius to my mITX case depending on how long and high the workload is.
I hope this hdd will last for many years to come as HGST has a brilliant track record.

Runs hot, think about placement within case
Stick it somewhere with good airflow, it runs rather hot. Other than that I'm pleased with both 6TB HGST drives I've purchased as they're fast, reliable and quiet.

All the space you need.
Runs very well, but can get quite hot when I used it to transfer a lot of files. Runs about 3-4 Celsius higher compared to my WD Black (which was the hottest until now).
