PSUs (Power Supply Units)
PSUs (Power Supply Units)
Date Issued: 4th Jul 2011

Let's face it, power-supply units (PSUs) are boring. Presented in what's usually a mundane box spitting cables from one end, this is a product that's neither aesthetically pleasing nor technically interesting to the majority of self-builders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Value Have only has this PSU for a few days but it is super quiet. I hope it continues to function for years to come as I do not drive it particularly hard with only general PC use-no gaming. 22 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by good solid budget power supplies ! Ive used many budget psu,s over the years with some being absolute rubbish and some throw away fireworks ... however C.I.T power supplys are actually not that bad especially when you consider their price range the 2 models ive used are this one (550w) and the 650w and the latter is still going strong in my spare gaming rig and has been working well for just under 3 years however I wouldn't recommend this psu for any high end gpu,s such as the GTX770 or HD6970 .. although anything up to the HD7770/r7 260/gtx750/gtx750ti will be fine the cables are not as long as other psu,s but this can be fixed by using 24pin and 8pin extensions ..... overall the most reliable entry level/budget psu around but be aware its only recommended for budget gaming systems hope this helps 22 October 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by PSU weak Pros Keeps cool under load Feels well built Cons Fan is not silent! PSU rails not reading what is rated PSU power switch failed. Remains ON all the time so cannot isolate without taking out the power lead I have had this PSU in a relatively cheap Athlon X4 system for 3 years. The 12v rails no longer read 12v, currently 11.96v so the PSU is no longer providing the rated wattage. 27 September 2013
