Power-supply units, or PSUs, are an integral part of any computer build. Often overlooked, it is the component that is likely to last the longest, and it can be moved between systems when you upgrade to the latest and greatest in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good My entertainment pc`s PSU exploded and i`m not spending more money on it, so this is a perfect sub. I only had it for a month but seem`s to be perfectly fine, for this price can`t complain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good buy (but be careful with your research) and Good service. :) I bought this to replace the PSU in my ageing XP PC and found that I needed to purchase SATA > Molex adaptors to adapt it to that generation. THEN, very annoyingly, I found that I already had a brand new one from many years ago, stored in the garage!! Grrrrr. Of course that didn't NEED the adaptors. Because my old selfbuild is 8yrs old, and becoming nervous because of the failed PSU, I decided that I would build a new system and have gone overboard with a 4th generation i7-4790/ Asus 97P system. So I thought that at least I could save the power supply cost. However, it turns out that 4th generation motherboards have different power connectors on the board which this PSU didn't have....Grrrr again. Even at my ripe old age (should know better) 'you live and learn'.!!! Well, at least you should do! :) The good part of the deal was the service. I've used SCAN since the early days of the MicroMart magazine, when they always advertised on the back pages. Not quite so competitive now but a very successful company with great service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent for the price - longevity to be determined. You should be aware that no power cable is included, but even so this product is excellent presuming it lasts for a reasonable time which I obviously cannot vouch for. I am using it for an electronics project not a PC and I was relieved that it maintains regulation at zero load which cannot always be relied on. Also I accidentally shorted 12v and 5v outputs together and the protection cut both outputs with no lasting damage. This bodes well for the quality of the design. The fan is very quiet (at the moment) and cuts out when the PSU is on standby. There is a mains isolater switch which is rare at this end of the market.

Questions & Answers

How efficient is this if you use a 65W Ryzen 2200G with this PSU???

80 Plus certification is important for high end components, but how well would this serve AMD Ryzen 3 for a budget PC... a serious budget. It would also be nice to see an efficiency graph at different wattages. Especially if power demands are low (like 65W APU, no graphics card, 7200RPM 1TB HDD). Get an expert in 'ere.
