The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.

500GB WD Black SN750 With Heatsink M.2 (2280) PCIe 3.0 (x4) NVMe SSD, 3D NAND,3430MB/s Read,2600MB/s Write, 420k IOPS is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable so far Chose this drive with heat sink just in case I had any overheating issues and had heard it was a good choice, also looks rather good too.. I opted for the 500GB version for the extra headroom as was told it’s not great to fill an SSD to full capacity which I had done with old 250GB system drive and had started to experience some probs.. I don’t know if there’s any truth in that info but decided to do pc reset and fresh install with new nvme drive for some possibly extra stability as I’m an amateur/hobbyist music producer. Did a bios update, installed windows and audio software and equipment etc and so far has been working without issue. I can’t say that I’ve noticed any speed increases with this drive compared to old one but is still fast but seems more stable for some reason, maybe just me.. So yay, I’m happy I purchased this drive, though I did have to find the right screw in my bag of spares that came with pc after it was built and was a bit fiddley to fit but managed it, I would imagine you can buy the screws for it anyway if got no spares hanging around. Anyway, everything is running smoothly now without issue so .. so far so good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 500gb WD black SN750 East to install, good software unlike some others, lightning quick speeds and low temps, would recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great NVMe SSD This is a solid and fast NVMe SSD. Quite pricey given it's only 500gb but the added black heatsink really sets it apart from others and it looks great on my motherboard. It's also a very reputable brand when it comes to computer storage so you can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast but will it fit? Very pleased with this drive. The integrated heatsink keeps the drive cool even if tucked away somewhere with no airflow. The downside for some is that the heatsink makes the drive taller and a fraction wider than normal, This is going to be a problem if the motherboard has its own M2 heatsink though they do sell the same drive without the heatspreader. Performance is excellent, I didn't notice it at first as it is not that dramatic, however I am finding other machines with SATA SSD drives now feel a little less responsive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish to look at, speedy I used this SSD as part of a Linux system build in a transparent display case made mostly of perspex. In that setup the SSD is fully on display, and the stylish black heatsink looks great, but does get noticeably warm. I have not benchmarked the drive under Linux but it feels fast. I have had an issue with the system where the drive does not show up after a reboot, requiring a power cycle to fix, though this is more likely due to the dev board it is plugged into. (RockPro64 with an RK3399 SOC), or the Armbain Linux distro. Overall I am very pleased with the WD drive in this application, though it is a little expensive compared with similar drives, so I don't think the extra cost would be justified if it where not on display.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best SSDs I am so pleased with this drive. Top of the range performance. No installation problems, comes with cloning and monitoring software. Would highly recommend.
