WD BLUE SSHD - 4TB Hybrid Drive

The 4TB WD BLUE SSHD is a high-quality HDD that also has 8GB of built-in NAND flash SSD technology which enables the WD BLUE SSHD to perform at up to 4 or 5 times faster than traditional HDDs. Its easy to use 3.5 inch form factor that is just 25.4 mm in height, the WD Blue HDD’s technical highlight is it’s 6Gb/s interface, which is the latest SATA III standard. This drive in particular has a storage capacity of 4TB and has a 64MB Cache.

Build it in BLUE

The WD BLUE SSHD drives combine NAND flash SSD and HDD storage in one drive. The Solid State Hybrid Drives in the WD BLUE family allows you to have the lightning fast performance of an SSD and the massive storage capacity of an HDD. This all results in quicker boot times, faster application loads and improved responsiveness when compared to traditional hard drives.

Inspiring Performance & Capacity

WD BLUE SSHD introduces NAND flash SSD technology, a single WD BLUE SSHD drive provides optimized, all-in-one solution which synergizes SSD-like performance, and massive HHD storage capacity in a single drive.

Work Faster, Smater & More Efficiently

Power users such as digital artists, photographers, and gamers will welcome WD BLUE SSHD’s ultra-fast read and write speeds when it comes to their large creative and multimedia files. The capacity limitations of a standalone SSD are no longer an issue; WD BLUE SSHD has the capacity for an entire digital portfolio, with outstanding, SSD-like speed at a manageable price.

Synergy Delivers Value

WD Blue SSHD is equipped with the optimal amount of NAND flash to deliver fast, SSD-like performance over high-capacity storage, significantly lowering the £/GB compared to the higher cost and lower capacity of standalone SSDs.

Ultra Fast Gaming

A gaming rig equipped with WD Blue SSHD can deliver faster game loads, auto saves, and can reduce lag between levels when compared to traditional hard drives. Ultra-fast drive response results in a smoother gaming experience and the added capacity means gamers can store more of today’s larger game files.

Simple Installation

The WD Blue SSHD hybrid drive is self-contained in a traditional HDD form factor, and installs as easily as any traditional hard drive without special drivers or downloads required. WD Blue SSHDs are compatible with most typical computer configurations, including PC and Mac.

Reviews
4TB WD WD40E31X 3.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive Blue, SATA III 6Gbs is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from SSHD have now replaced HDD in my eyes. Its always been SSD vs HDD, speed vs storage space, price vs performance. Now my question is why even look at a HDD when you can now get a SSHD If you are thinking about getting a large storage drive for photos, films or even a games library and want to keep it affordable, then head straight for the SSHD over the HDD. This is one of the best hard drives I've used and even its mechanical components are faster then the 7200rpm HDD that this has replaced. Plus the flash memory does allow regularly accessed files to be stored onto the flash portion for even faster use. It is a little slower then a pure SSD, but for the price you get a lot more storage making this a great best of both worlds option, fast speeds and large storage at a great price. "Buyer Beware" you cannot manually add items to the flash "solid state" portion of the SSHD, that is taken care of automatically when you access a file/program regularly. "Instillation note" get a good SATA I/II cable to make the most of it, your choice if it is a Straight to Straight or a right angle (see recommended products). Once installed in your computer a restart or two will show the new drive in the "disk management" section for partitioning. Best to Youtube a "how to install a new hard drive" video if you are unsure on this part of the process. Highly recommended over any standard HDD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge storage capacity Whilst I have not used this hard drive as a primary or even secondary drive my review may not do the product full justice as many may expect. I selected this drive as a removable storage for Acronis backups and for that purpose alone I cannot fault the drive. It's large capacity allows me to back up both C and D drives with plenty of space to spare.

Questions & Answers

Installing

If I purchase this item will it have all the necessary items to install it into my system?
Asked by: Fletchersketche
No. You will need a SATA I/II cable to connect it to the motherboard if you want to add this as a second or third Hard Drive. If your replacing an existing Hard drive then its a simple swap as it will take the SATA cable and power connection of the old Hard Drive.
