Placed two in Raid 1 as a data drive .
System drives are SAS so they are connected to a SAS controller.
All good so far.

I've had a bit of a bad time with WD drives dying in the last few years, but WD's RMA service is also excellent. These seem to work well in RAID setups, where you're (usually) expecting to be able to cope with drive failure anyway.

When buying a new hard disk, it is best to do a FULL format. The option for a quick format is there but DO NOT do this. I did this with another disk and I LOST performance until I did the full format.
It takes a while, but for the rest of the life of the disk, it's fine.
In regards to formatting with Windows, you need to enable support for Itanium computers. This allows you to format BEYOND the 2TB boundary.
If you select the wrong one, you can convert it and have the entire disk available to format as you wish.
In comparison to my 2TB WD Black, it runs cooler. Zero problems.
That 2TB boundary might get some people confused or complaining though.
If you want compression enabled, you need to use 4K clusters. I have 1TB free and this should last me a year until I upgrade again.
This disk happily copied at over 90MB/s for a good few hours.
Rememberin that once the cache is full, it slows down. This is true of many disks.
I bought for the warranty and support. Data is important to me. I don't like the 1yr some companies give.
