45cm Scan RB-481A, SATA III Extension Cable, Male to Male, Locking Latches, 6Gbps, Black is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Perfect for Improving Your System Building Skills If you make the mistake of buying these, you absolutely must test them individually to stop them messing up your valuable data. I ordered sixteen, and received just one bad one, but by the time I'd figured out what was going on, it was too late. My data was already messed up on several disks, and now I have to do a time-consuming data rescue. Whatever you do, don't just build a PC and connect it up with these thinking the problem will be obvious. It doesn't work that way. Your PC will probably work, but you will discover not all is right -- after much hassle, heartache, and corrupted data. You need to figure out a proper way to test these first, without putting your data at risk. You need a high-speed SATA device; on low-speed or legacy devices the problem will still be there, but probably won't show up. I'll probably use the fifteen good cables I have, but considering the time and effort needed for proper testing, it really wasn't worth it, and the one bad cable blew that up out of all proportion. If time is money for you, then just don't buy these. If you want to prove your system building, fault investigation and data recovery skills, they are a must-have! Another problem is the locking catch. On some cables these are fine; on others, they don't fully depress due to a moulding/alignment problem. You need to inspect these before plugging into anything. If you plug in a bad one, you won't be able to unplug it again! These are such a small and inexpensive thing, yet they have incredible power to screw up your life. I can't possibly recommend them. Buy them, and you'll probably regret it. Buy better and be happy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only use with CD drives Ordered this alongside an 860 EVO. After the SSD kept failing to format I RMA'd it and got a replacement. Managed to format the replacement but the read/write speeds never went above 1MB/s. Turns out it was because of this cable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap and cheerful. Does what it says on the tin. It's hard to do a review on something like this because they either work or they don't... They do. If you have a pimped machine with RGB lighting they allow for neater cable management and because they're black they fit in with any colour 'decor'.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Turns out this was the cause of numerous BSOD in the past couple of years I've used it and in the last month has caused some strange behavior in MoBo to the point where I assumed it was broken and needed replacing. Nope, just the dodgy cable. Since replacing it the SSD it was attached to has flown to what others are bench marking. Also the clip is pretty bad, real effort to clip in/out and you can't plug something into a double headed port ontop of this as the clip physically blocks you so you have to push it down to get past... pretty bad. I'm not suggesting spending £10 on SATA cables, this is just not a viable option for anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just do the job I cannot say too much about a cable. The previous one caused a lots of ata error under Linux and freeze my system. Now I have no such problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID - These simply do not work I spent at least an hour trying to figure out why some of my SSDs/HDDs weren't being detected, only to finally find out that it was the drives connected using these cables. After methodically testing one drive at a time, and trying all FOUR of the cables I purchased, I came to the conclusion that not a single one of the cables worked. Cheap, but 100% useless. The latches are rubbish too, so even if the cables did work I still wouldn't reccomend them. Do not buy!
