The two are similar in some respects, particularly some of the products that use the two technologies. However, Firewire has its differences, which means it has both benefits and drawback when compared to USB. This Tekspek will look at Firewire and also look at it with respect to USB.

4 Port Newlink USB 2.0 Powered Hub, Black, Supplied With PSU And USB Cable is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Power supply failed within hours Simply using this as a powered hub to light 3 strings of LEDs, each with USB connector. Trivial power draw. Power supply failed within 2 hours of use. Really weak connection between power supply & hub too. Naff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An extremely poor quality product I'll start by saying that this product did not meet my expectations or meet my needs. I wanted a powered hub to power some usb devices I use for music production as my laptop does not have enough ports to accommodate all these devices. Unfortunately this device is also unable to accommodate them. As soon as three devices are plugged in they all start to disconnect and reconnect. Disappointing but that's what you get for buying cheap I guess. The product is of noticeably poor build quality. All of the connections (USB ports and power) seem very loose like they may drop out.
