PC monitor manufacturers tend to focus on a particular buzzword or acronym almost every year. In the past, we have been treated to HD (high definition), denoting the screen is capable of running a minimum 720p resolution.

Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aggressive stylish hi-end 4k bargain gaming monitor The Acer Predator Z35P, P is the important bit as this one runs at 4K unlike the normal version and 35 stands for the size of the 35" display. It works immediately on Windows 10 but you should download drivers from Acer and browse them to update the display. It has 2 inputs, Display Port 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 and runs at 3440 x 1440. This allows for widescreen browsing and huge desktop footprint. Speaking of which the stand is much larger than it's lesser cousin so you will need a large desk area for the supports. With a curved screen and G-Sync this is designed mainly for gaming particularly if you have a Nvidia GPU which prefers G-Sync. Most games now play at the wider 3440x1440 so it's good to take advantage. The Scan price of around £550 inc.delivery is the lowest this monitor has been - it was nearly £1000 when it was released. It comes with a built-in 5-port USB hub around the back, I would have preferred the cables to plug in the sides rather than underneath which is more awkward to get to, but it comes with all neccesary cables and a cable tidy clip and manuals. This is a great purchase and supplied by Scan the best value of any curved, 34-35", G-Sync monitor in the UK.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot reccomend (Not fit for purpose) I have had 4 different screens in my home over the course of the last 9 Months due to various warranty replacements/ repairs (around 7 repairs across all screens). All 4 have displayed the exact same fault when used with Gsync, returning shortly after each repair. these panels flicker like mad, this varies from game to game but is present in all to a varying degree, if you are sensitive to this its a game breaker. They also suffer significantly from a banding issue in dark colours and greys. After many arguments and complaints with ACER and due to my unique long term complaint and various repairs we managed to replace the screen with its IPS panel counterpart the X34P. Spend the extra money and save the headache of months of repairs. Get the X34P I have 0 complaints with it, it is everything this screen should have been. (the only downside is the IPS glow which is unfortunately a characteristic of the panel type)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Immersive flight simulation experience Immersive flight simulation experience, X-plane 11, DCS and P3D look amazing. I agonised long and hard over a high end monitor. Am very pleased and GTX1070 moves the pixels round at 100Hz very well indeed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad back light bleed Had to return this monitor due to very bad backlight bleed, I was told the levels of light bleed were within manufactures levels and would have to arrange for the massive parcel to sent back myself with no help from scan. I have attached the pic.. if you order the monitor and are happy with the levels of light bleed as seen in my pic then order the monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best. First off, I write this review on my lovely new Z35P monitor that I have received from Scan around 3 days ago. The value of this monitor is very good. You definitely get what you pay for and this being the 3rd monitor I've ever owned, coming from a TN 60Hz 4k the downgrade was absolutely necessary and I feel like this monitor and its features beat my previous 4k screen any day. Scan had the best value for this monitor and the shipping was very quick. As far as the quality of this monitor goes, after reading reviews online about it and other types of monitors like it, the X34P and Alienware AW3418DW, this was a fair bit cheaper and more in my range and I feel like while this may not meet some minor features that the others have, this definitely is a great and close competitor, as it's a couple of hundred cheaper. The quality of the monitor is outstanding, the picture out of the box is ok, but you will definitely need to make a few changes to get the picture you like. Plenty of customization options in the monitor menu and the overclocking to 120Hz works like a breeze. I've never had anything over 60Hz before and I can safely say I will not be going back to anything less than 120Hz. The tear free, smooth gameplay is absolutely amazing. I run most of my games on the full 120Hz at 3440x1440 as I'm rocking a 7770k and a 1080 Ti, usually on high or more settings. When I ordered the monitor, I was so anxious about all these problems that people speak of, like dead pixels, back light bleed and other terrible things that can happen to monitors. This is only my 3rd monitor so I'm like the rest of the folks out there that don't know much about monitors and are eager to make the right decision. Thankfully, I can safely say that my unit was absolutely 110% perfect and I have absolutely no issues with any of the problems that other people seem to have. The color and the build quality is amazing and the monitor is really great for immersive gaming, nothing like I have ever experienced before. I don't think I'll ever go back to 16:9. So if you're really anxious about making the decision, I urge you to just go ahead and do it. You'll save yourself some money to spend on other computer stuff and you'll get nearly the exact same as these other expensive monitors. A final note and appreciation for Scan and the product that they have provided at a reasonable price compared to other stores and the handling of the product and the shipping was great, so thank you guys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I was expecting! I had been looking into getting an ultra-wide monitor for a long time. I was originally set on getting the latest Alienware 21:9, however, the price never dropped to what I was hoping. I decided to settle on the Z35P, which uses a VA panel, compared to the Alienware which uses an IPS panel. I was very apprehensive about this decision due to everything I hear about VA panels, particularly with the previous Z35 display. As far as I am aware with that model, the overclock was just too high for the monitor to cope, which gave off horrendous ghosting. I am happy to say that with the Z35P (Or at least my model anyway), that I received I did not have any dead/stuck pixels and the ghosting is non-existant, with the exception when playing Fifa 18, I notice ghosting on the red icon above your player. This is minor though and did not put me off at all and so far has been the only game I have noticed it. One thing to note, this monitor is huge, which of course is to be expected with a 35" model, however, the stand is also huge, so I would recommend either have a very deep desk or that you pop this monitor onto a monitor arm. I went the route of monitor arm and it has been great! Just make sure that you take note of the weight of the monitor without the stand when making a monitor arm purchase! I purchased this monitor at £800 and was very happy at that, considering the alienware monitor still sells for almost £1100. Scan ended up dropping the price further to £750 about a week later, but were fantastic enough to accept a partial refund of the difference which I was very impressed with and was not expecting to receive when asked, so thank you Scan for that! If anyone looking to purchase this monitor from Scan has any questions, please let me know!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great monitor at a great price I've been looking for a new monitor for ages and I'd already looked at ultra widescreen monitors but dismissed them as I couldn't justify the price. Then I saw that Scan had the Predator Z35P with £200 off meaning it was within my price range at £750, so I ordered one. It arrived a couple of days later and all I can say is WOW! The monitor came in a huge box, the monitor was already assembled and read to go, it was up and running within a couple of minutes. No dead or stuck pixels either (which is always a worry with new monitors). Gaming on this monitor is fantastic (Battlefield 1, Call of Duty WWII....Wow!). If you're think of getting one, make sure you get the Z35P not the Z35 (the Z35 has a lower resolution). All the negative comments about ghosting and back-light bleed are just nitpicking from anally retentive people and is barely noticeable and even then only in niche situations.

Is this monitor optimally compatible with my gaming system?

I've ordered a custom built PC, in brief, the specs are as follows: Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor i7-7800X (3.5GHz) 8.25MB Cache ASUS® ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME: DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX/SLI 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2133MHz (2 x 8GB) 11GB ASUS ROG STRIX GEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti - DVI, HDMI, DP With regards to a monitor, would the Z35P make good use of the hardware? Thanks in advance!
Asked by: HGunn
Your 1080Ti is highly capable of running games at 3440x1440 (4K) at this 21:9 aspect at the full 60hz, and being also Nvidia prefers using G-Sync. The Z35P is far better than it's cousin the Z35, and Scan have this now at a very low price.

Will my current GPU be able to operate the Z35P Monitor

My GPU is NVidia GTX 1060 6GB
Asked by: TrevThomas123
Yes, however, depending on the games that you play, you may need to lower the settings. Gsync will help to smooth out the gameplay if you hit lower fps. Are there particular games that you play? What monitor do you currently use?

What does refurbished mean?

I'm interested in this monitor but do not know what refurbished means. Is it in perfect condition? Is it in original packing?

Refurbished means that this has been re-worked by the supplier to different gradable conditions. Please see the description of the product itself for further information.
