Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works nicely I brought this to replace the hard drive in my Humax PVR, as the old one (a different brand) had died after about 4 years of 24x7 operation, and because I had heard good things about the reliablity of WD Red Drives. So far it has been working well, but only time will tell if it will be reliable. 24 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stores data and then reads it back again!! It's like magic. I used it in a WD EX4100 and it even survives a power outage. Mind you, I do have a battery backup PSU. It remembers stuff for days. How clever is that?! 04 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 2TB WD Red NAS Drives Quiet, fast and reliable, they live up to the manufacturers claims. 22 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Western Digital Renowned H/D manufacturer Well trusted hard drives for 24/7 operation with a good warranty. 15 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly recommended for small [5 disk] NAS systems SCAN exhibits the usual high level of Customer Service, delivery process, price competitivness and P&P. However can't comment on the product yet as it's part of a new build not yet completed. 26 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Does the job Plugged straight into a Synology NAS and rebuilt a failed RAID array no problem (the failed disk was a Seagate Green). 28 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant I have 3 of these running in my system, and I'm going to buy 2 more! 11 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good drives for a NAS Fast, reliable (so far), no issues raiding these drives. I would however recommend considering the larger sized versions of these drives. 22 May 2014

Answer:
The WD Red drives are specifically designed for NAS 24x7 use and spin up to 7200rpm, so would be recommended.

Answer:
The Red drives are designed for NAS use - they are all set up for constant uptime (unlike greens and other disks that expect to be parked every so often at shutdown on a server or a PC).

Answer:
These drives are recommended for use in RAID arrays, and I have used them successfully in both larger and smaller arrays than you Drobo 5D, so assuming the capacity is right for you, then this would make a good choice.
