HGST have a good reputation for reliability and these disks are rated for 24/7 operation. Small amount of clicking when seeking, but otherwise quiet. Shame the warranty is only 2 years, but that seems to be standard these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TheArchit Irreproachable product and service
Just to help people out there looking for modern replacement disks for the Apple Mac G5 Early 2004 model (PowerPC) I can confirm the HGST UltraStar 7K4000 2TB is fully compatible with its old built-in SATA-I interface. The disks will transparently auto-negotiate the correct bus speed and there's no need to set any jumpers (note that no manual jumpering is possible on these disks). I am very happy with the product. Seek activity noise levels are slightly higher in pitch compared to my old Seagate Barracuda 1TB, but still within very acceptable limits and with improved performance. A quick check with smartmontools on the UNIX terminal revealed no factory defects and after 206 hours of practically continuous use all S.M.A.R.T error counters are still at zero.
SCAN's service was beyond reproach. The items were well packed and quickly dispatched with email notifications at all stages of delivery which was very reassuring. The prices we also competitive with reasonable delivery rates. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AlexF Reliable 2TB Hard Drive
It'a a quieter than average 2TB hard drive. Slightly more expensive than most but according to Backblaze (Online storage) who operate more than 35000 hard drives, this series of hard drives from HGST (Hitachi) is in a class of it's own when it comes to reliability. Now that, to me, is worth paying a lot more for, not just a little.
