Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

28" iiyama G-Master Gold Phoenix 4K Free Sync Monitor, 3840x2160, 1ms, 300 cd/m², 12M:1 ACR, HDMI/DP, Black is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent monitor Unlike the ASUS monitors we had to send back these were, contrary to a couple of other reviewers reviews, very easy to set up. There is no problem with the adjustments - just read the instructions! The only thing I missed is a mall on/off switch almost hidden at the back. The delay on the buttons (which work well on both our monitors) can be easily adjusted so I would recommend. Good quality pic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite like this monitor but... ...when I first tried it out it was very unstable; I don't know why. I could only use it in the HDMI mode, and Display Port mode didn't work, despite all the cables connected. Configuring the monitor was, initially, a nightmare: the monitor menu is very fiddly to use, and is set to time out after 5 seconds. You can change this to up to 60 seconds, which I attempted to do, but trying to catch it in time before time out practically reduced me to tears! Eventually I did it, and I can now use the monitor properly. Trouble is I have another problem: there appears to be two monitor drivers installed on my PC, and the monitor settings give me contradictory information, and now HDMI now doesn't work - DP does. But it works now, and I do have the 60 Hz refresh rate (I think). I wish Iiyama could have made operation a bit more straightforward.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great specs, poor quality Was planning to by a Dell 4k, but saw this and the specs looked great. Read a few reviews that seemed to be favourable so went for it. Should've known better! Build quality: The base of this unit was quite solid but it uses an odd locking mechanism for the screen which means you need to tilt the screen backward quite severely in order to unlock the handle to move the screen up and down - it's not immediately obvious unless you read the manual. It locks solidly but it's hard to adjust. The buttons on the bottom are of a weird 'rubber wrapped' variety that makes them really annoying to use. Reminds me a bit of the 'dead flesh' zx spectrum keyboards if you're old enough to remember those. As the text markings above the buttons are black on black, you're never quite sure what you're pressing. The power button is of the same variety which means that initially I had difficulty even switching the thing on. :) Picture quality: As soon as I switched this on I knew I would have to send it back. The picture quality was so bad that initially I thought it was broken. I know these types of monitors use cheaper panels that aren't as well specified in terms of color space as their more expensive counterparts, but the screen just looked incredibly washed out, with pale greens and reds bordering on orange/pink, as if the brightness had been turned up fully (and the contrast down). No amount of tinkering seemed to make it any better, and the backlight itself seemed to be really low (and unadjustable), making for a generally pale, dark and murky picture. The awful dead flesh buttons meant that tweaking also became a boring chore as I kept flipping past the options I was meaning to select; not helped by a confusing menu UI. Adjusting the color saturation in software marginally helped, but wasn't enough to mitigate the exceptionally poor picture quality. The viewing angle was also really narrow; not something I thought would bother me in practice but it was surprisingly narrow. For all the great specs this monitor has (multiple inputs, goes up to 100hz, freesync etc.) the disastrously poor screen and clunky control panel and buttons really let it down. Avoid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected Good bright screen. Makes my older Samsung look positively dowdy. Built in speaker output has tidied up some cable issues for me. Very happy with this monitor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outstanding customer service From a finding them cheapest on a google shopping search, through the purchase and delivery process, then support on the item and finally returned and refunded, Scan were brilliant. They kept me informed of every step, gave detailed tracking, answered my support requests and then refunded me in good time because I wasn't happy with the product. The monitor itself is excellent, I was very pleased with it except it had one dead pixel. This isn't recognised as a fault by Iiyama unless there are several dead pixels. The pixel proved to be too much of an issue for me so Scan promptly accepted a return and refunded me immediately. I wouldn't hesitate to use Scan again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works amazingly with the PS4 Pro! Been searching for a monitor for a while to work with the PS4 Pro and this is the one! In the settings you can easily change the port settings so that instead of it having HDMI 1.4 the first slot can output in 4K through HDMI 2.0. With speakers and an adjustable height too this is really the monitor to buy if looking to use with a PS4 Pro!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All in all, a great monitor I have to say that because of one particular problem (which I will explain shorty) I could not give it the full 5 star even though this monitor is fantastic. I've wanted a 4k screen to complete my screen setup for a while and this was perfect. I have another two illyama 27" 1080p 1ms monitors at either side with this one in the middle and I have to say that it takes a lot more room that I first imagined. Quality is amazing and have already been looking at 4k media (Youtube/Netflix and i think Amazon). Screen is also very bright which is very good but i had to turn mine down. The buttons (touch) seem to be a lot more responsive than previous Illyama monitors however sometimes you don't feel like you've pressed them which can be annoying. Now for the negative. I bought this monitor so it could do 4k at 60fps however when I got it setup and booted i noticed a lack of frames and sure enough after checking the setting it could only go up to 30fps. After about three hours of checking drivers were up to date, specs of monitor/graphics/display port 1.2 were checked and I could not find out why it was only capable of going upto 30 fps in 4k. I even read the manual with no luck. Eventually I gave up on research and was planning to return this product when I thought I would check the settings on the monitor and after I dug around for a bit I found that you can change the version the ports run at. HDMI was set to the max already (1.4) however Display port was set to 1.1 which cannot support 4k at 60fps, I changed this to 1.2 and hey presto glorious 4k in 60fps. All in all, a great monitor however not sure why it was not shipped with 1. the highest version of display port selected by default and 2. why it did not explain these or most settings with the manual provided.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No Use for Macbook Multiple inputs which is great. Use it with Win 10 in 4K mode and its great. However using it with a Macbook Pro (mid 2012) it will not work for more than a few minutes via the DisplayPort; the screen freezes and you need to reboot the Mac (very rare) and I'm using the supplied cable. The Macbook will work fairly well in HDMI mode however the quality of the display is inferior to the Prolite E2773HDS which sits next to it and runs Win 10. Searched for drivers for the Mac on the iiyama site but no luck. Can only recommend it for a Win 10 and then you need a decent graphics card to drive it properly.
