Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product... just expensive This goes great with my SLI 980ti's. The g-sync does make quite a difference and the screen quality is very crisp and makes my old monitors look extremely washed out (Previous monitor Asus VN247H-P 23.6). The only downside is that it is very expensive... 03 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by 4k at its finest if your pc is a monster then get this, otherwise get a lower resolution. for the desktop experience its not worth it but for the gaming it is worth every penny. 60fps on all resolutions is a bit lazy (could be higer hz on lower resolutions like my old LG could go up to 75hz but was only 60 @ 1080) but 60fps is enough for a quality experience and G-Sync is awesome, 4k gaming at 60fps with no tearing or artifacts it will be hard to look at another monitor. 17 February 2016

I'm looking at buying this monitor to run off a 2x 970GTX SLI configuration as a permanent monitor, with occasional Oculus Rift use (when I get left alone to get properly immersed & assuming SDK 1.3 resolves the lack of head tracking since Windows 10 killed SDK 0.8 for me).

I'd imagine running the Rift on direct mode with a 4K desktop not really doing much would put unnecessary load on the system, for unnecessary expense as I currently only have the 1 GTX970.

Cheers Folks :-)

PS: Noob? Yes, but I'm recovering from 10 years of consoles, so you'll have to forgive me... ;-)

Answer:
Hello,

At desktop just displaying on a 4K Display doesn't use much GPU power so it should be fine leaving it at 4K. The monitor will display at resolutions lower than 4K however the image won't be sharp.

Thanks,
