Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely No complaints about the screen, very good quality for the price that was paid. 13 February 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by DisplayPort does not work A great monitor for the price if you are only going to connect via HDMI. The problems begin when you wish to connect via Displayport as this monitor has known issues syncing with GPU on system startup if connected via Displayport. All you get is "No signal" even after repeated attempts to get it to connect. Asus has known of this fault for over a year and yet it still remains. A quick search of "VX279Q displayport problem" shows the extent of the issues. Knowing of these issues I would not have purchased this monitor, I wish I could return it but I am beyond the 30 day return now. 18 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent First monitor I've had and what a difference, picture quality is spot on for both gaming and working and the IPS screen looks great. 21 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Screen Our purchase arrived quickly and so far has proved perfect for our need. 12 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Value - Good product This is a great IPS monitor, I have bought two of them, one for myself and another for a custom build for a friend, the resolution for anything on a 27" monitor with the 1200 x1080 resolution is fine, so do not listen to those who think it is not enough. Games come to life and pictures are sharp and crystal clear. Good price great product, the only down side is the controls on the monitor to adjust brightness, contrast etc. Come on Asus you could have put more thought into this! The controls however are not enough to put me off this great monitor, the picture quality far outweighs this minor glitch, highly recommend. 27 September 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Good IPC monitor I definitely recommend this monitor. Sleek design, great colors. The only drawback that UK version doesn't come with HDMI / DisplayPort cable, which is in EU version, because it is supplied with UK power cable plus EU cable. 31 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful colours and brightness This being my first monitor for my gaming rig i could not of chose a better monitor, coming from console gaming to pc gaming i can live with 1080p @ 60fps with the beautiful colours and contrast... as for the 5ms response time i do not notice a thing its perfect for fast fps racing beat em ups all the games i love and more often than not i still finish top of the board! design is also elegant and beautiful. I will always go for an ips monitor from here on out as i prefer good looking games to bland looking ones which the TN panels do not give the same quality as to these ones :) 17 September 2014

I wish to purchase 2 of these monitors, but would also like to mount them on a bracket (something like LN57191). Could you let me know if the monitor can support such a mount and if not - what would be a similar spec monitor that could?
