There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

Whether the broadcasters are going HD or not, TV sets and projectors are arriving thick and fast which claim to support higher resolutions than regular telly. But HDTV is far from just one standard – it incorporates a couple of different resolutions, two different scanning modes, and a number of different frame rates. In this article, we present a guide to what all the terms actually mean.

With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

27" AORUS AD27QD Monitor, IPS, HDR, 2560x1440, 144Hz, FreeSync, 1ms, 12M:1, 350cd/m², HDMI/DP is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sent back day one I got this monitor the same day I sent it back unfortunately I had a green bright dead pixel dead center of the screen. Blb was fine and the image quality is fantastic. I had a small play in a game or two and motion blur was not that noticeable to me. If you get a good lottery pull you're golden but if not unfortunately you need minimum 4 dead pixels to send it back for free o had to eat a return fee to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One The Best Monitors I have owned. This monitor is one the best I have owned. Support gsync/freesync, 1440p 144hertz 8bit or 120 hertz 10bit, HDR and top it all off it is IPS. I have owned a lot monitors over the years, I often opt for high end colour calibrated IPS monitors for visual impact over speed. This is first monitor that for me had the colour accuracy and high refresh rate. It does small issues in when go into full screen games it takes few seconds of going black and adjusting back to your source before it settles. (this could also be caused by the fact I have 4k tv in multi-monitor setup) Could also be all procressing the OSD does. Also when i turn pc for first time I have turn off black assist it keep turning it on and Resetting windows 10 HDR's SDR content brightness setting as it doesn't seem to detect my previous setting and really dims the panel until I reset it. Those are small issues and probably fixed by firmware update or windows 10 updates. Also worth noting I run it at 120 herts 10 bit colour HDR Gsync all on at same time. It is otherwise one of, if not the best monitor I have owned I even bought another to have dual screen + 4 monitor setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe the best overall monitor on market. In short, this might be the best overall monitor on market. 1440p+144Hz is the current sweet spot for both gaming and content creation. 4K is too demanding for graphic card, even 2080ti can't produce very high frame rate for intensive games. I have seen 4K monitors, I can't really tell the difference between 4K and 1440p unless looking really close or using a hand magnifer, I suppose most of you don't want to do that on a 27 inch monitor. 144Hz is noticably different from 60Hz, it feels much more smooth and responsive even you are not playing games. 144Hz makes you feel better doing anything, not only gaming, My eyes don't feel pain even after hours of use becasue eventhing is so smooth. On a 60Hz panel, you can feel the blink when you start to get tired. Comparing to counterparts from ASUS and Acer which are already 3 years old, this Gigabtye model is newer and better. The panel is IPS so there will be back light bleed, it's inevitable. I heard people keep returning and replacing IPS moniters but never be happy with the next one. Don't do that, it's just the limitation of IPS technology, every IPS panel has back light bleed, but most of them won't be noticeable unless you are viewing very dark content in a very dark room. As a trade off, you can enjoy the gorgeous colour of the IPS panel, especially when you are doing photo editing. As a photographer, I can tell you this panel has perfect colour saturation, contrast and gamma OUT OF THE BOX. The color reproduction of this panel is as good as your Apple phone. The more expensive counterparts may have the same potential but they are usually not perfect out of the box and require professional calibration. Another very good feature is thr OSD sidekick software which allows you to change the settings with your mouse rather that the annoying buttons or joystick. The design is very clean and sexy, it has RGB lighting if that's your thing, but you won't see them because they are at he back. The stand is very solid, but it's too deep. Make sure your desk has enough depth, or the monitor will be right in front of your face. You don't want to look at a 27 inch monitor that closly. If you really don't have the depth, it is compatible with aftermarket monitor stands. It is not cheap, but it is an almost perfect product that worth every peny of your hard earned money. In my opinion, it's the best overall monitor for both gamers and content creators. Unless your are really into the ultrawide 21: 9 panels, this is the best you can get. You do have 4K, 144Hz options on market like Acer X27, but they are ridiculously expensive and overkill, no graphic card can push 4K/144Hz now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor but will not pre -order anything from Scan in future You only get notified late afternoon, on dispatch day that the item will be delayed. Then when a further delay comes around, Scan will just update it on there website and not notify you at all. I have never had a problem with any products I've purchased from Scan but the communication regarding pre-orders could be a little better. Great monitor anyhow and no regrets at all!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality 1440p 144hz monitor from aorus I bought this monitor after looking at a few in this price range and I am completely satisfied that I made the right choice. It has some great features outstanding display with really good colours , games look fantastic. As with most ips panels there is a little backlight bleed but not noticeable. It is expensive but also very high quality and would recommend this monitor oh and it has rgb !!! excellent service from Scan my go to site for pc components.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delivers everything promised Just received mine today. Was trying to find a new display that suits me for a couple of years and surprisingly Gigabyte's first monitor solved this. Had some bad experience with other IPS displays, this one just performs as advertised. Of'course blacks can be better, but in general are good enough. Very minor blb/glow, compared to other IPS displays is practically non existent. I notice it only when specifically testing for it. Fortunately no dead pixels. Out of the box calibration is ok, but after actual calibration gets even better. Also did some G-sync testing (with the current Nvidia drivers), works pretty good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best monitor out currently of the money! i received this monitor with no dead pixels, no back light bleed and with minimal ips glow which is amazing as every other ips monitor i had that stated that i has perfect panel quality was a lot worse than the Aorus. the motion is a lot better than the samsung chg70 and it has a better variable refresh rate range with frc! overall this monitor is the best monitor out currently for the money as its more accurate than the asus pg279q and has hdr and gsync support thanks to nvidias new release.
