There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MartinB from Simply the best The colours just pop so much more than normal monitors especially given the brightness is so high and the variable backlight. This is the perfect monitor for gaming, movies and work. It is perfect at everything I use it for. Blooming is slightly visible in some loading screens. No visible backlight bleed. Fan is not loud enough to really bother. The monitor hoods help the colours pop even more. However, the price is extremely high - it is only worth it if you can run it and money is no issue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Whiskeyomega from PSA: This Monitor reduces the colour output if you go above 98hz and is not 10bit This monitor and the Asus "4K 144hz" one that is also out uses something called Chroma Subsampling in order to get to 4k 144hz. As a result of the lack of bandwidth in Displayport 1.4 you will only get 8bit color upto 120hz in 4k. However this is not a 10bit panel at all. it uses processing to even get 10bit at any refresh rate/resolution. But even so the 10bit processing stops at about 98hz so anything after that the picture will look worse. Since Acer have actually failed to disclose this information I'd say this monitor is not worth the price they are asking for.
