Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Reviews
27" Acer Predator X27, 144Hz OC NVIDIA G-Sync HDR UHD Gaming Monitor, IPS, 3840x2160, 4ms, Adjustable, VESA, DP/HDMI is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from PSA: This Monitor reduces the colour output if you go above 98hz and is not 10bit This monitor and the Asus "4K 144hz" one that is also out uses something called Chroma Subsampling in order to get to 4k 144hz. As a result of the lack of bandwidth in Displayport 1.4 you will only get 8bit color upto 120hz in 4k. However this is not a 10bit panel at all. it uses processing to even get 10bit at any refresh rate/resolution. But even so the 10bit processing stops at about 98hz so anything after that the picture will look worse. Since Acer have actually failed to disclose this information I'd say this monitor is not worth the price they are asking for.
