The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

A motherboard’s main job is to act as a conduit between the various hardware elements that make up a PC. It needs to be able to link the desired CPU(s), system memory, graphics card, hard drive(s), and add-in cards and enable them to work in harmony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fast NVME drive. I had A Western Digital black 256GB NVMe drive in my my PC was was struggling to break the 1700MB/s read barrier often seen on the 256GB drive (yes I had a heatsink on the controller but not the flash ram) (note the WD 250gb NVME drive is much faster I have one in another PC) , plus my Daughter wanted a new PC So I've 'given her my 256GB WD black as part of her new build and 'upgraded' my NVMe drive to this Intel 760P drive. wow my max read speeds have jumped up from well under 1700MB/s to 2679MB/s and thats with all to normal windows stuff going on in the background.... impressive. I've using an EK NVMe heatsink but with a modified back plate to allow me to trim the thermal pads and move the clips to just cool the controller not the Flash ram again as I did with my WD drive cooling the flash ram considerably shortens its write cycles..(kills the drive quicker) But on the other hand cooling the controller stops thermal throttling when writing large files like large video edits. If you don't write lots of large files or continuously bench mark your drive you'd be better off with no heatsink on this drive at all. There is really noticable difference when loading large video files . For performance per £ this is one of the best drives I've come across.
