Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

NVIDIA G-Sync
NVIDIA G-Sync
Date Issued: 17th Dec 2013

G-SYNC works in a surprisingly simple way - it calculates how long the present frame takes to compute and then, crucially, varies the refresh rate of the monitor to match. It works between a minimum of 33.3ms (30fps) and the maximum supported refresh of the display. The key takeaway here is that the graphics card and monitor are both synced up to one another - the monitor doesn't have the limitations imposed by a rigid, fixed-rate scanning routine.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Go for it ! (CSGO etc...) you want an awesome 144hz monitor and you're on a budget ? this is what you're after. I looked into several other ones but all online reviews etc ... pointed to this one I particularly bought it for csgo and this was the monitor they used in one of the recent pro csgo events, it appears to have the lowest response time out of several others i read reviews on so ... 05 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gaming monitor This monitor was recognised as 144hz by gfx card and is excellent for gaming. The colours are bright and vivid. I appear to suffer less from eye strain with this fast refresh monitor. Excellent value from Scan and amazingly fast delivery. 20 September 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice monitor Very nice monitor. Have been using it for sometime now with no problems whatsoever. The only problem i have is does not connect to the base very well. it is completely secure but it isnt the best fit an will occasionally lean independently of the base. Other than that a good monitor with clear colours and of course, a very high refresh rate which is noticeble even outside of games 05 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by stunning colours Amazing screen quality and puts my old monitor to shame ...games look so much sharper, brighter and the colours are fantastic. Of course I can now make the most of it with the higher refresh rates. 100% Happy. 21 January 2015
