Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

G-SYNC works in a surprisingly simple way - it calculates how long the present frame takes to compute and then, crucially, varies the refresh rate of the monitor to match. It works between a minimum of 33.3ms (30fps) and the maximum supported refresh of the display. The key takeaway here is that the graphics card and monitor are both synced up to one another - the monitor doesn't have the limitations imposed by a rigid, fixed-rate scanning routine.

Whether the broadcasters are going HD or not, TV sets and projectors are arriving thick and fast which claim to support higher resolutions than regular telly. But HDTV is far from just one standard – it incorporates a couple of different resolutions, two different scanning modes, and a number of different frame rates. In this article, we present a guide to what all the terms actually mean.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Great Monitors I bought this monitors as a treat as my current ones were mismatched, and that did sit right with my OCD pc build self. The Monitors themselves look beautiful on my desk. They come with a DisplayPort to mini display port cable and a USB 3.0 upstream cable. I thought I was going to have to go and purchase DisplayPort cables, but if your GPU supports daisy chaining DisplayPort connections, you can use the Mini display port cables included and I found I didn't need anything more. The USB upstream cable means that I have easy access to a few more USB ports, for things like my mouse and keyboard, which is great for cable management. The main reason to buy these is clearly for the bezel and using the Scan mount they fit together great. Because the monitors are 23.8" and the bezel is 6mm, I've been able to get them to sit on my desk at a great angle, and it is all really easy to adjust. Been playing fallout 4 on them for the last hour or so, the colours are fantastic. they really make a difference to gaming. I know that TN monitors are techincally the choice for gaming, but the price for me was a big put off. These have a great refresh rate and im very impressed Really impressed with this product and bundle and thank scan for getting it to next day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great image quality, well priced high quality displays they are very thin, the image quality is very sharp and colours look great. They feel a lot more expensive than they were and have made a nice addition to my workstation. the Dell display manager is a nice bit of added value enabling a lot more screen split options than windows alone as well as enabling application specific colour profiling (movie games, reading modes). a lot of people complain about the capacitive buttons however I have found the trick is to use your thumb instead of your index finger and they work every time without fault. The stand provided is very sturdy and easy to construct and looks very smart, my only niggle would be that there is only a single cable management clip on the pole but this can easily be remedied with a few cable ties.

Questions & Answers

I was wondering how you connect the monitors together?

What cables and connections do I need to hook up these monitors, I have a GeForce GTX 750Ti graphics card which has HDMI, DVI and VGA connections.
Asked by: MikeyDave
Im going to assume that you only have one HDMI connection. The main way to connect these is going to be to get a Displayport to DVI cable or adaptor for one of your monitors and use a HDMI cable for the second.
