Frequently Bought Together
Product Overview The AP122 combines two classic SilverStone fan designs into one with 9-blade design and the Air Penetrator grille.

The result is a quiet 120mm fan with increased airflow rating and lower noise level than the original AP121, but with sacrifice to air pressure.

For those looking to add an air channeling fan into cases with less resistance, the AP122 is a great alternative! Features • Industry leading air channeling fan
• Standard 120mm frame for maximum compatibility with CPU coolers
• Integrated air channeling grille double as fan guard to reduce overall size
• Low power consumption
• Higher airflow and less noise with 9-bladed design

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Date Issued: 5th Mar 2007

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

120mm Silverstone SST-AP122, Quiet Air Penetrator Series Fan 9 Blade is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from AP123 OOS Wanted AP123 but didn't want to wait for order so got the previous version for £5. Its designed as an intake to reduce noise generated from being up against the intake grill and focus the air to the other side of case. My case is behind a panel so I don't have the PC right next to me but noise is not a factor so I've left it on 12v direct from power supply. Previously the Xinrulian fan was on 5v with a resistor to tame the noise more. Far more airflow from this intake fan at a resonable decibel. The 3pin connector did not reach my motherboard header so I initially tested it with a PWM extention cable I got in a noctua fan box. Just to make it neater I put the Noctua on the PWM motherboard fan header now. Its a shame wanted the AP123 and would have paid £10 for it. I noticed looking around there aren't many new designs of fans out. This fan came with just 4 mounting screws whereas the Noctua fan came with the same screws, rubber alternatives, PWM extention cable, PWM y-splitter, and PWM low noise adapter, but was over 3 times the price. Not all Silverstone fans are as sparsely packaged. FW91 came with stick on noise dampeners to cushion case>fan interface, and FQ121 came with a molex to pwm 12v adapter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value fan... however... Bought this fan for case exhaust, it's nice and quiet, and only need plugging to motherboard, no molex connection. I am only disappointed that its does not meet full 1200 RPM advertised as I checked BIOS and only achieved about 600 RPM (depending on position). Returned for refund. Boo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Average fan B- average fun, both is noise and air blow. Comes in a nylon bag with 4 screws - it has a 3 pin unbranded cable. i used it in a cheap case to house an old mobo/cpu - I guess its ok for that purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Fans :) Not bad fans. Quiet and reliable, good airflow. U cant ask much more. It has a little lower rpm than some but its quiet. And it does the job
