The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

120mm Corsair ML Series ML120 PRO LED Red Single Pack Premium Magnetic Levitation Fan, Translucent, Red LEDs is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works well as radiator fans Hi - I have chose two fans of this type for my corsair h80i gt water cooler - as my build is black / red themed (with a bit of orange for good measure). I decided to give these a try as I didnt like the performance of the stock fans that came with it. Even at low rpm the fans still spin as they should - the magnetic levitation part you dont have to worry about. I'd say these are worth it for what I'm using them for, as the side window view looks superb at night! If the fans are not on show then it may be overkill for what you are hoping to achieve, though they sell non led versions of these fans too at a cheaper price. :O)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey but worth it. Built myself a red and black themed PC so decided to go all the way with red LED fans Pros - Very quiet - keep 3 of these set at 850rpm at the front of my case and have checked a couple of times to make sure they are actually spinning. Hard to tell quite how good they are at cooling but my motherboard temp stays stable and low; generally a little over room temperature. Solid construction, good lighting. Cons - Would have liked to see sleeved cables for the price but as they are tucked away it's not that big a deal. While the lighting quality is good it's only really visible if you have the fans exposed through a grill or glass panelled case, there's not much light thrown off in to the case. Only a concern if you have a side-windowed case of glass panels.

Can these fans be attached to liquid cooler radiator?

Asked by: taurus67
Yes - I use two 120mm fans in push/pull configuration on my corsair h80i gt and being 4 pin they can remain lit fully whilst controlling the speed.up to 2000rpm. :O)
