The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

System Noise Reduction
Date Issued: 5th Mar 2007

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

120mm Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition, High Pressure, 1450rpm, 37.85CFM, 23dB, 3-Pin, Twin Pack is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Louder than expected, mounting system awful Much louder than I expected from Quiet Edition fans, mounting involves turning screws into unthreaded rubber - very hard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet, super cool! I've now got 5 of these in my rig 2 intake and 3 exhaust. My computer is so quiet and is nice and cool! On the plus you get three rings white, red and blue. If you're thinking of spraying to a different colour I recommend using the white ring as the colour takes better, I've sprayed all 5 rings green with only a few coats. A tad on the expensive side but hey, you want quality, durability, temps and noise reduction rather than save yourself a few bob!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The product is quiet just like it says I suffered for a few months with the noise of my stock corsair h80i fans, because I couldn't get the corsair link to work. Finally, I found these fans and fitted them, so glad I got them because the noise is pretty much non-existent, compared to the stock jet engine. xD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and powerful fans These are excellent fans. I bought 3 to replace my 2 larger proprietary case fans which made all kinds of irritating noise. These fans are much more stable and consistent. I have one on full power and two controlled by the mobo and the noise level is perfect. It could however be a bit of a headache if you have multiple of these on full power, though they have a vastly superior noise to power ratio to any other fans I've used. For reference one of my previous 180mm fans at 1200rpm would be about 4 or 5 times as loud as one of these.
