Product Overview The advent of Blu-ray technology has led to the introduction of high capacity storage discs to meet the demand cause by the rapid growth of high definition television (HDTV).
Blu-ray discs get their name from blue laser technology. The shorter wavelength of the laser is the reason it is blue in colour. The blue laser has a wavelength of 405nm compared with the wavelength of 650nm for DVD which utilises red laser technology. The benefit of having a blue laser with a shorter wavelength means it is possible to write smaller data pits and therefore vastly increase the amount of data on the disc.
Blu-ray discs offer 3 to 5 times the storage capacity of a standard recordable DVD disc, enabling the recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video (HD).
For use only in drives or recorders that support 25GB/50GB Blu-ray Discs without cartridge.

Whether the broadcasters are going HD or not, TV sets and projectors are arriving thick and fast which claim to support higher resolutions than regular telly. Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor At least half of these disks failed. Drive is fine with other brands 17 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality product Verbatim is a name I trust, and these worked great. As it turns out I probably could have used the 25GB disks. 11 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Reliable I bought 10 of these discs and have burnt 6 using an internal Blu-ray writer without any issues. 24 November 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value branded dual layer BD-R Had a small issue with the first one burnt at 6x, but that might have been just me. Since, I have used several speeds up to 6x with great success. With my Pioneer BDR-206 burner, the 6x burns are visible on the surface, but 2x and 4x speeds show a uniform pattern. Files and videos are read without issue on the view devices I have at home (Sony Blu-ray players and Pioneer BD-RW drive). They're not printable and have the usual plastic / laminated surface which you can write on with a felt tip pen / marker. 20 October 2014

Re. maximum data

Hi, noticed the OP's issues with 6x burn but pretty sure this is a tuning issue so just don't use the very first disk of this type burned with a new drive for anything vital.
I actually found this with dual layer DVDRs as well (also Verbatim) but part of this issue was lousy firmware on the (new) 24x burner.

Am I right in saying that these have the Durabis coating or a variant, to reduce the chances of surface damage? This is important as these are intended to back up a 1TB external against being crypto'd.
I am probably going to send the disks offsite as well for security.
