Customer Reviews

3XS N10 Silent is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good media PC I had been using a Fit-PC3 Pro as a media PC for about five years and was dissatisfied with it because it was slow, could not really handle blu-ray, had proprietary drivers, and kept forgetting how to send audio output to the TV. Also, it hummed a bit. The Scan 3XS N10 was not especially cheap, but works perfectly as a media center PC. It was almost plug-and-play. It wouldn’t boot with a USB DVD player attached, so I changed the boot order in the fancy BIOS. I had to apply Windows updates, as usual. And I had to tell the audio output to go to the TV/HDMI, which is relatively easy to do on Windows 10. I bought the basic N10 spec with a larger SSD, and with a DP-to-HDMI converter cable. The computer boots pretty rapidly, with no lock screen. A fan came with the device. Scan explained that it came with the motherboard, but was unnecessary with the given case, but they ship it anyway. You may notice that the cheaper N5 has a lesser CPU, but faster memory (DDR4 vs DDR3) and a better graphics card (HD 520 vs HD 5500). Which is odd. A Scan support person confirmed this, and also said that an M.2 drive will be a bit faster than a plain SSD, but asserted that it all makes no real difference. Anyway, my machine runs blu-ray in VLC, and will even speed up playback if I want, so I am satisfied. (To get blu-ray to work with VLC, I had to transfer some old licensed software from my previous device’s hard drive, which to my surprise worked fine.) All-in-all, this is a handy way to watch DVD, blu-ray, Amazon Prime or Netflix. No complaints. Delivery was delayed by a day or two since the mobo and case turned out not to be in stock after all, but I didn’t mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet fast and sleek Great machine. Doesn't even get warm to the touch. Quick to boot from the SSD. Just enough connectivity and working well with a double screen set up.

Questions & Answers

Will it play Blu-ray?

I have a fit-pc3 that I bought in 2012 for media use and I am tired of its stoppy video, even on DVD or Amazon. It never played Blu-ray well at all, seemingly overpowered by the data. Can the 3xs N10 cope? This via a usb3 Blu-ray/DVD player. Thanks.

Hi, I can confirm that the N10 silent can be used to power two monitors via it’s mini DisplayPorts. Kind regards,
