Statelapse Biography
Statelapse are a heavy Dubstep DJ/Producer duo based in Huddersfield, consisting of members Luke Fenn and Leigh Shields. The pair met through a mutual interest in music and producing back in 2007, in the years leading up to that fateful meeting, Luke had played in numerous rock bands performing up and down the country, whilst Leigh has always had a passion for DJing, playing a range of genres from House to Hardcore Techno.
Their first venture was into the world of Drum and Bass, where a couple of tracks were signed to American label Wreked Records in 2008. The DnB journey led them to being residents and promoters for Huddersfield based underground night 'Inertia' and gained them a rotational residency at Afterparty Huddersfield's leading dance night.
It was finally when the pair decided to become fulltime Dubsteppers in late 2009 that things started to progress quickly, after giving out free tracks and gaining the attention and respect from some of the big players in the game it was then that people started to stand up and take notice.
In August 2010 Statelapse received airplay from Radio 1's very own Kissy Sell Out giving them the national exposure they'd been waiting for and in the same month Z Audio released their first 12" 'Mad House'.it was shortly after that when the boys went on to win the international Pendulum remix competition for warner records in September 2010 and remix top 10 popstep outfit 'Modestep' securing statelapse a slot within the top 40 with their 'feel good' remix on beatport.
2011 also saw them collaborate on the track "let's go" with Roksonix, which has received over half a million plays on YouTube and featured on the UKF Bass Culture LP, which as of the 13th August 2011 was #20 on the UK download albums chart, # 10 in the UK compilations chart and #5 in the UK dance album chart. 2011 has also had an incredible gig list, with them playing across the UK, as well as starting to break into Europe including festivals in Belgium and The Netherlands.
With many more big tracks on the way including a collaboration with breakbeat veteran noise-merchants, The Autobots have plenty of shows ahead, Statelapse are now on their way to the top, dropping filth bombs on anyone who gets in the way.
