Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler
Product Overview
The NH-L9i is a premium quality quiet CPU cooler for Intel LGA115x based HTPCs and Small Form Factor systems. At a super-low profile of only 37mm, the NH-L9i is ideal for extremely slim cases and due to its 95x95mm footprint, it provides full compatibility with tall RAM modules and VGA cards on mini-ITX mainboards.

The custom designed SecuFirm2 mounting system for LGA115x makes installation child's play and thanks to the highly optimised NF-A9x14 premium fan that supports fully automatic speed control via PWM, the NH-L9i runs remarkably quiet. Topped off with Noctua's renowned NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-L9i fuses everything users have come to expect from Noctua's larger coolers into a super-compact package for slim HTPC systems.

Chassis Airflow Cases >> Chassis Airflow The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke. Read Further >> Core 2 CPUs >> Core 2 There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise. Read Further >>

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very nice cooler and quiet Very nice cooler and quiet, would defenetly recomend it. Very good price for the quality. 01 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely Fantastic Great cooler, used in my media centre build. Its quiet (didn't use the included low noise adaptor), looks great, and really seems like a high quality, well made product. Its also very low profile. 02 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent CPU cooler! Very well packaged, and looks like a quality product as usual. I think Noctua have got it right in terms of installing, it's so easy to fit. Performance wise, it's very good at keeping the CPU cool. I have my i74790k running at 4.4ghz, and temps were around 59c while under a prime 95 stress test. This actually done better than my Corsair H105 water cooler! Noise levels are good - very quiet, just a very low hum. I wear headphones, so I don't really hear any noises that interfere. One small niggle though, even though I have low profile ram installed, I still needed to lift the front fan up a bit to clear the ram. It only needed to be lifted by about 10mm, so it's not a big deal. A lovely CPU cooler. I'm more happy about using this, than going back to water cooling. 17 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Performance and quietness! If you have a mini ITX build and you are looking for something different and quiet than the Intel custom cooler this is definitely the best you can get. - It keeps the CPU temp well below the original stock cooler - It is incredibly quiet, in idle up to medium load you can't hear it at all (and my other case fans are Noctua) so if it wasn't for the screen you wouldn't think your PC is actually on - It comes in an outstanding package with thermal paste and a metal sticker with the Noctua logo for your case too - Low profile, if it fits in my Cooler Master Elite 130 it fits anywhere else I am very pleased with this cooler as it helps to keep the CPU cool and the PC quiet even when gaming, of course it comes with a price. 16 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Bought from this brand on recommendation from a friend who never uses stock CPU coolers. Felt I won the lottery when opening the box, it's all very, very classy. The way it's safely tucked into the protective foam, the free thermal paste syringe, the free Noctua PC sticker badge as proof of purchase. It filled me with confidence that these guys know what they're doing. Fan is hefty and feels fantastically built. Installed it with very little trouble (personally always worried that I'm going to break one of the four screws but this held up brilliantly). I've not gone for a silent PC build so I can hear all of my fans going. I'm not sure which quiet hum of my many fans is that of the CPU fan but all of case/cpu/gpu fans do not amount to a loud noise at all and for that I'm grateful. Have had no CPU heat related issues a month and counting after the installation so chuffed to bits with this product. 02 November 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best low profile HSF? This cooler is a perfect fit on Gigabyte mITX boards where you can't go over the 92mm boundary without interfering with the RAM or expansion slots. It pairs well with 35W CPUs like the i3 3220T but doesn't seems as good with a 54W i3 4130 which idles at 40C instead of the 3220T's 28C but I haven't checked for possible airflow problems on that setup yet (or if that's just how Haswell is). You get extra long fan screws so you can use a standard 1" fan instead of the supplied slim one plus the usual selection of Noctua fan cables. The only real downside is the price which is stupidly high for what you get but I think it's still the best in its class. 22 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nearly completely silent Has kept my i5 in the high 30's while using the included fan speed reducer, its almost completely inaudible. The packaging is of an extremely high quality and the heatsink itself is solid. 07 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Probably the best you can get in this form factor Cools the CPU well and quietly (used on Haswell i3). Possibly a bit on the expensive side, but there was little choice in my mITX case. 02 May 2014
