Rated 5 out of 5 by nacho Great product
After my last router finally gave up the ghost, after several years of abuse, another Netgear seemed the way to go.I have no been disappointed so far. It was much easier to set up and takes a lot of the pain out of reconfiguring all of the different users - we were all up and running in minutes. The unit runs a lot cooler than the previous DG834G and connections seem to run faster. My only problem is how to connect an old HP iPaq using WEP, as this unit uses a different system.

This router set itself up when connected to the internet and has worked perfectly giving good wireless reception in an average sized Victorian semi.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CamdenGuy Seems unstable and prone to crashing
After having used Netgear routers for more years than I can remember this is the second router in a row that has not lived up to my expectations. On several occasions now the router has been unresponsive when in the web based control panel, clicking buttons either has no effect or a very delayed effect. Restarting the router seems the only way to correct this. Also I have repeated problems with tablets (both IOS and Android failing to connect via wireless or if connected then connecting so slowly as to be useless. Again rebooting the router seems to solve this problem for a while.
The broadband speeds that I am getting seem about 20% slower than what I achieved on my old Netgear DGN3500 although this may be due to BE migrating over to Sky's network.
As a modem it works, but it not that stable and wireless connectivity is particularly disappointing.I am afraid that this is going to be the last Netgear router that I buy for a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Graham Significantly improved the stability of my internet connection, with a welcome increase in line speed - not much, but very good given my distance from my exchange.
As seems to be the norm these days, documentation supplied with the router was poor and installation wasn't as straight forward as it should have been.
Hardware does not reflect the User Manual - e.g. the manual says that the internet light should 'blink' with traffic, but on my unit it stays solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Douglas Performs well and was easy to set up. A worthy successor to the DG834G (v1) it replaced.
No user manual included in the package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by John Self-installation, no software cd to worry about/ loose. Plug in the basic details and away it goes for you.
Ability to share via ReadyShare USB port
A bit cramped at the back once you have all the ports filled etc to get to the on/off button if you need to reset the unit.
Might have been nicer to have a switch on the power lead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dom Stable wireless connection, excellent range it will go right outside my house to the pavement the otherwise of the road! Which is about 40m from where the router is in the house!
Lots of advanced options for the more technical people and simple smart wizards for the not so technical.
Only bad design part which is a little bit frustrating is where previous netgear (dg834g)link lights for ports 1-4 would flash, these ones just stay solid green?
