These speakers sound great compared to the usual PC type. My previous speakers were the highly rated Creative T40s (which died) and these sound better to my ears than the T40s did.

They're massive (check the size before ordering!) and the right hand speaker (with the amplifier in it) weighs a ton - which makes them at least seem to be very good value for the price

The volume control seems to be somewhat unpredictable - it does not seem to produce the same results every time (i.e. if you turn it up 3 clicks and then turn it down 3 clicks it often seems to be quieter or louder than it was before you played with the volume). I presume (without knowing anything about it) that this is cheap electronics at fault which is a shame as other than that these seem to be of very decent quality (they are very heavy so unless they've been lined with concrete I assume the rest of the electronics are up to the job and this is just some grey suited accountant saving 2p a unit on the wrong kind of volume control bits...)
