Customer Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Spoilt by the media control buttons. I wanted a gaming keyboard and the specifications of this keyboard are very promising for the price. Out of the box it looks the part and you even get a spare set of ASDW keys. The back lighting is nice and the keys have a positive feel. Once I had loaded the keyboard software I was disappointed to discover that the only keys that I can program are the five macro keys. I had hoped to be able to setup a profile where many of the unwanted keys around ASDW can be disabled for gaming. When my fingers slip and hit the wrong key in the middle of a melee it is very annoying to see the desk top pop up in place of the game I am playing. Having said that though, the "win lock" button does at least disable the "windows" key. The main issue is the media buttons. At random times the touch sensitive media buttons will change the volume or mute it. Right in the middle of a game the audio will mute and un-mute every few seconds - very annoying. I have since read several forums on this topic and it appears to be a common fault that Gigabyte have not addressed. Many people have returned the keyboard only to have the exact same issue with the replacement. There is a work around whereby you disable "Human Interface Device Access" in "Windows". In my opinion though, steps like this should not be necessary, the keyboard should work properly in the first place. Until such times as this fault is fixed by Gigabyte I warn anyone considering this keyboard to stay away and choose something else. 07 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent easy to configure keyboard The K8100 is a well designed keyboard (mechanical) with an easy to set up macro system. It has backlit keys, depending on the revision you get, it can be blue or red. At the top is a media bar, which has Volume mute/up/down, back/forward a video/scene/music, pause and stop. The only negative I will give is the fact you cannot use ALT+Numper Pad keys to produce Ascii with this keyboard which is a shame :\ 10 October 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Keyboard I wanted a Gigabyte Keyboard as wanted it to match my Mouse so decided on this one and read some reviews and although heard some bad stories about this model I took the gamble and yes I got a bad one, some of the Keys wouldn't work and after a few hours all the media lights started having a mind of their own and was turning on/off my music, volume was going up and down and muting, I unplugged it for 10 mins and then plugged it back in and worked fine for another few hours then came back even worse. Decided to have a replacement and give it another chance and although have had this second one now for a few weeks its working fine although has a little go at messing with the media lighting very rarely with no effect to the media playing. Apart for the Trouble I have experienced along with the ones I read online the keyboard itself is very Nice, the keys are very quiet and responsive, it comes with a rubber protector for the keys which is very useful for preventing crumbs etc. It also comes with a key pulling tool and an extra set of WASD keys which don't make a big difference but just give a slightly different feel as they have a brushed feel to them to match other parts of the Keyboard. The keys are blue backlit which is controlled by a switch, there are two USB connectors either side of the keyboard to allow for USB devices to be connect to, the media keys are touch panel and are very sensitive which could be indicate the occasional flicker for the media lights, G1-G5 profile buttons placed on the top along with a button which has the Ghost Icon on that fades on/off, the keyboard is actually a very good keyboard apart from if you get a bad one but don't let put you off, if you get a good one they are actually very nice and comfortable to use, and I would recommend one to anybody and would even buy another one if I had too. 21 March 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Steer clear with windows 8 The keyboard is pretty well built, keys are solid, lighting is not too bight and not too dim. Overall this is an aesthetically pleasing keyboard to have. However, I have ran in to some incredibly annoying issues with this keyboard while running Windows 8 & 8.1 Bought two of these, one for myself and one for my partner, and both have the exact same issues (both keyboards tested on 5 different computers running win8 at home - same issue on all of them) Touch keys will randomly activate themselves sending volume up/down, mute, play/pause/skip tracks, etc. I've had the music suddenly come on through the night from my computer and turn itself up to full volume because of this. As a result I now have to stop a windows service to deactivate these keys every time I boot up. After this issue started I looked online for fixes but this seems to be a widespread problem for users with this keyboard using windows 8. My suggestion would be to stay away from it if this is your Operating System, otherwise do some research for issues on any other OS before buying. 01 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent But.... Its a really nice to type on, the interchangeable caps for WASD make a difference when gaming for being able to recognise what key your about to press. However the software glitch where the media keys start to mute and mute after an hour or so can get quite annoying, especially in game. However removing and then re-inserting the USB port does fix this for the rest of the session. Service from Scan was the best I have ever had from an online retailer. 28 September 2013
