The DWA-556 Wireless N PCI Express Adapter is a draft 802.11n client device for desktop PCs with a PCI Express (PCIe) slot available. It is faster than 802.11g wireless adapters with the added benefit of PCI Express technology.
PCIe technology offers several advantages over the common PCI interface, such as a higher speeds between the adapter's board and the host computer and in addition has lower power requirements.

It can also be used with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks to enable significantly improved reception.
