Customer Reviews
Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent processor for most domestic purposes This is a nice processor which is perfectly capable at doing almost anything a domestic PC needs to do: unless you are a serious gamer or intend to do a lot of video editing, this has more than enough grunt and is well priced. I don't want to suggest it can't do gaming or video editing at all: it is perfectly capable of light gaming and of video editing providing time is non-critical: just that builders wanting to prioritise these areas will undoubtedly want to look elsewhere. 03 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great apu if you are looking form a great system at a low cost this is it you can start with just the apu and it works great then add a good graphics card later , If you are going the no graphic card rout go for fast ram (2400) as it works great with fast mem 29 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent processor its better than i thought it was going to be. i would recommend this processor, well chuffed thanks scan 17 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Impressed I find AMD's latest push into unified architecture impressive, shame they're moving away from CMT cores. Anyway I'm very impressed by my 7850K, as I upgraded from a 5800K, the performance gains are minimal in a purely CPU scenario but this APU really shows its strength in OpenCL and GPU areas. 07 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent advance of the APU line The A10-7850K is a great product, without doubt the best APU money can buy at present. This APU can game straight out the box, I only play the BF series by Dice and BF4 runs very well on medium settings. The APU also overclocks well, I'm sitting at 4.5Ghz. Teamed with an Asus or ASRock Motherboard you can achieve similar on air cooling alone. Best buy for a budget gaming build. 08 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great features for future software I like the Kaveri concept, with forward thinking with Open CL, GL, Compute, HSA and Mantle for parallel computing which wiill make the APU far more powerfull than a i7 with the right software to use it's features to full effect. This has been AMD's thinking all along knowing that their cpu part could never match Intel cpu's in normal everyday software, until the software is made for Kaveri's features. Just a shame they couldn't deliver on the 1050 tflops as first stated due to Global Foundries having probs with yeilds. Would of been good thou to overclock from 1050, plus the gfx part would of been more powerful with a possible 900 to 950 standard clock rate. Got mine clocked @ 4.3ghz, gfx @ 960 and NB @ 2000 HSA and Mantle enabled. Remember to to enable IOMMU in bios to enable HSA driver from catalyst install with null - IOMMU driver as well. Overall very pleased, best is yet to come!. 06 February 2014

Answer:
theoretically 4 pebibytes. for best results, cram as much in as possible.

the min supported memory is 1.25 gigabytes, because the processor will reserve a gig for itself for graphics memory.

supports speeds up to 2.4ghz.

Answer:
The amount depends on your motherboard not on the processor, and the speed ditto, together with any overclock you are applying to the system. However, given the inherent limitations of the processor, I wouldn't recommend going overboard on either the quantity or speed of the RAM: 8-16GB of DDR3 2400MHz ram should be more than enough.

Answer:
This APU can easily deal with 32 gb, but depends mostly on the M/Board and how many ram slots you have. Cheaper M/Boards tend to have 1 set of dual channel memory ( 2 ram slots ) this will reduce the amount you can have. Speed wise the best FM2+ boards will easily be able to use 2400 mhz, but i would check first on their website for QVL memory for the M/board you plan to buy. Most people will get best performance with 8gb of dual channel ram of 2133 mhz on a Kaveri APU FM2+ board, plus not too expensive for this option.

Answer:
Yes, you will need both a FM2+ M/Board with a Kaveri A10 APU for this option, also remember to check if your memory is compatible. I generally find that G-Skill or Corsair memory works well with FM2+ boards, but do please check on either M/B website, or use memory configurator on the memory manufacturers website to check for compatibility.

Also many older FM2+ boards tend to need a Bios upgrade to use a Kaveri A10 APU, if your board can upgrade via LAN connection in Bios or USB stick is the best option.

Answer:
Yes - but it is very basic and I would suggest buying a custom cooler if you are planning on overclocking the processor (and to be honest, even if you're not!). I paired it with the SilverStone SST-AR01 Argon cooler, which I found easy to install, quiet in operation, and which keeps it in temperature even when given a decent overclock

Answer:
These aren't really comparable processors. The A10 has integrated graphics, which are pretty good compared to Intel's equivalent, but not capable of more than light gaming without a separate graphics card. I would have thought it should handle streaming without difficulty; but I don't have any personal experience with the Avermedia LPG so can't say for sure. The FX 8350 is a standalone CPU which will therefore necessitates a separate graphics card. They also need different motherboards: the FX 8350 should be compatible with the mobo you already have, but the A 10 will need a new mobo. So you have a choice: either buy a graphics card to go with your existing mobo and the FX 8350, or buy a new mobo to go with your new A 10. The A10 will be less capable, but may also work out cheaper.
