Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ASUS GTX 970-Big Card and a bit Heavy make sure your case can take it. Well I think this card is a beast of a GPU, I got mine today from Scan ordered on sat night it came Tuesday as i was told it would top service from them. What can I say I came from a GTX580 and man what a difference For £300 its a steal, First thing is you can set a fan profile in MSI after burner if you want as this card's fan dont even run before it hits 67deg, I played a bit of BF4 and it maxed all settings and was getting 80 -110fps so its a fast card. I have not had any slowdown what so ever in gaming yet....But only played 2 hours so far. As some people have said the 970s can whine but none from mine which is good I turned fan up to 100% to test and was all ok. Im not into benchmarking as I think the best way to test out cards is to play games so YES this is a great card and thanks again Scan on such a quick delivery. 14 October 2014

Which is better?

Is this better than the Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II 3GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (PCI Express 3.0, HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D, Display Port, NVIDIA 3D Vision)? If so why is it cheaper?

Answers

Answer:
Hard to say - the 780 has more cores, but a much lower clock speed. The 780 has less memory, but a 384bit memory interface whereas the 970 has a 256bit. But it has an extra GB.

It is safe to say that the 970 will be cooler, quieter and draw less power - but the performance numbers are a bit of a see-saw. I'd check out some benchmarks if I were you, search for how certain games perform on certain cards - also, have a look at LinusTechTips on youtube, he does a lot of these benchmarks. Has also done a vid on the 970+980 and rates them highly.
