I used this card to set up a mirrored, striped large array using 4 Seagate 3 T drives. I was using a quality gigabyte board and the bios had to be updated to make the raid card function with it. I updated the gigabyte bios using their internet software and the firmware on the raid card needed a usb disk set up as the boot drive, which was a bit of a pain, but not too difficult in the end.
The whole system now goes very fast, I am getting 320Mb sec across the whole array, which is very pleasing. I use the array for secure projects for customers: this includes HD video editing and website design.
I am very pleased with the upgrade.
