Rated 5 out of 5 by Shobah Incredible performance for the price
The card works out of the box and can play all the games I've thrown at it on ultra settings without even breaking 60 degrees - Arma III, Skyrim+tex. packs, Wolfenstein NO no problem.
At the time of buying it was one of the top 25 most powerful graphics cards on the market, which for this price is ridiculous. If you need to upgrade in the future (probably not in the next 5 years with this card!) you could always buy a second one and use crossfire, which is fully supported.

Rated 3 out of 5 by alex123456 Its ok now but it had issues
First, does it perform well when it works? Well sort of, skyrim 1080p with 200+ mods 2k texture and enbs ~45-60 with dips to <20 in 1 or two areas. Get 60fps on shadow of mordor at high settings.
The issues however are with blank screens of solid colour, it will work fine 1 second, the next it will go a block colour and a restart will be required, its very annoying. This is lessened by underclocking it and increasing the power available to it. The fact that i have to mess about with it to get it to work under normal conditions (and it still does it every so often) mean i cannot recommend this.

This graphics card, like many these days, has different modes it steps between so when you switch from intense 3D gaming to just general web browsing it steps down to a lower 'mode'.
Unfortunately on this card #and on many AMD cards# this causes a strange 'flicker' on the monitor a couple of times per minute. Took a lot of faffing to track it down but this card will definitely be RMA'd now. Almost £200 for a product that doesn't work properly under low-strain? Not acceptable.
It's a lottery whether you get a working card or one with the problem and MSI have been very poor in their customer support. My first and last product from them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Straus So many driver issues
Nothing but trouble with this card - months of back and forth with both MSI and AMD Support, BIOS flashes, endless suggested tweaks and changes... still can't get the issues resolved. Loads of people suffering the same problems on various forums, no-one has found a reasonable solution.
Constantly "skips" and flickers in 2D (desktop, 2D apps, etc) when the card downclocks for 2D power saving which makes it completely un-usable for 2D. Suggested solution from AMD is to disable power-saving and lock the voltage/clock speeds to "gaming" for normal desktop use to prevent downclocking/powersaving, which is nothing short of ridiculous.
I've been an AMD/ATI fanboy for years, big mistake staying with them for this card. Lured in by good reviews, ignored the widely reported driver issues... major buyer regret. Advise people to dig past the reviews before buying and do some research on the AMD Support forums. Review benchmarks for gaming only tell half the story - it rocks for gaming, but constant glitching and corruption while doing anything 2D really kills the experience.

I fell out of the PC gaming world for a few years (drawn to the Xbox 360 because most of my friends were on it) and desperately needed to upgrade my rig to play the newer games that I had missed like Battlefield 4 and Bioshock Infinite to name just a couple.
I went with the r9 280x based on benchmarks and the awesome MSI edition boasted low temps and quiet fans.
Boy does it deliver. Not only does it run Battlefield 4 (for me the most important atm) on Ultra with ease 35-100 frames ... probably 50-60 average but it seems like it runs pretty cool and its remarkably quite. Really like the design of the MSI frozor as well.
Great card that wont break the bank completely.
So far it has lived up to all my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by filreed A great card for the current crop of games.
Bought this as a replacement to a HD6850 that was starting to struggle on some of the latest games. Whilst it can't run everything at top settings at 1080p at 60fps (Crysis 3/Assassins Creed IV I'm looking at you) it gets pretty close.
It's a quiet card that runs well in my system that contains an i5 3750K overclocked to 4.2.
Power usage dosen't seem to much of a problem either as my PSU is only rated at 450W.
It's at a good price/performance point as the next level up (R9 290) is just getting too pricey.
