Rated 5 out of 5 by EmleyMoor Fairly typical, but sleek and fast
Bought three of these for the purpose of doing my backups. Apart from the useless-to-me files on it when supplied, it works absolutely as expected (only opened 1 yet).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Raybo A decent Back up Drive
This External Drive was actually purchased for my Son, who runs his own Pro Photographic Business. His comments have all been positive at the moment, he will know better when it has been in use for a month or so (should take backups from him for at least 3 months)
He has used it on both an aging USB2 PC and an up to date main PC with USB3 and he says the speed of read and write seem to be moderately fast on both machines - life span, time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BrainPhrozen Much Better Than MyBook
I brought this as my WD Mybook was being very problematic and as I DJ needed backup in a hurry to transfer over a terabyte of music.
Plug it in and it just works, no annoying back up software, although you do get Acronis True Image thrown in for free (Although you need to pay for a full licence). Excellent product I have had no issues with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Turfking Not compatible with Windows 7 Backup Advanced Format 4K Sector size
These hard drives are Advanced Format with a 4K Physical Sector size. They will not work with Windows 7 Backup but will with Windows 8 Backup. Otherwise they work just like any other drive with Windows 7. I use AOMEI Backupper which is very easy to use for full disk or scheduled file backups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gordon7k Very satisfactory external hard drive
So far, I have found this a very satisfactory drive. I chose a 2TB size to avoid potential difficulties with the larger sizes. I already have an earlier version of this Seagate drive and it has proved very reliable over the last 5 years. I use this new Seagate drive (USB3) in conjunction with two other external back-up drives, and there's no problem running them together. This arrangement allows me to back up my data (or create an image) first on one backup drive and then later on another--alternating between drives. (I use Macrium Reflect for backup)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ktech For the price you can't go wrong
The drive is pretty quick, silent in operation and good value for money. It's early days for reliability, but going on past experience of Seagate drives, there shouldn't be a problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jasz Doesnt work with windows backup!
During my backup on windows 7, I got an error message saying that the backup failed, this was due to an I/O error.
Searching around online for a solution, I found that this seems to be a common problem with the Seagate ext. hardrives and windows backup, this is because they are not compatible.
The drive is good quality however I would not recommend this drive if you are going to be using it for windows 7 backup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NickR Excellent product
An excellent product, robust and great value for money. Small and easy to transport.
So far it's been reliable and I don't expect that to change as I have used older versions from the same company for years without problems.
