For about the same price you can get a monitor with a much larger viewing area, which is probably what you should go for it you're predominantly using the monitor for games or video etc. However, if you do any serious graphic design or video editing and value quality, resolution, colour gamut and response, I think you would be pleased with this monitor. I use it for 3D graphic design (e.g. Maya, mental ray, photoshop, after effects / creative cloud etc) and before switching it on, I wondered if I'd paid too much; afterwards, however, I understood. Especially when running it side-by-side with my old monitor. Not sure what the future holds for Dell, but they make fine monitors.

No, it's not 27" and it's not "widescreen" as such as it has a slightly squarer resolution. And if you use it for real computing (work) that does make a small difference. I had a 27" top spec NEC for a few days. Sent it back - too wide, no extra top-bottom screen space, pointless and nearly a grand! Can't afford an Eizo and don't think the bottom end Eizos are sensible. That left only this Dell which they'll probably stop making now! But it is superb as a screen and the overall stand design is beautiful and effective. I have a ColorMunki profiler and the screen responded well to that; superb colour range. Just really, really good. Utterly recommended.

This monitor is in a league above most ones you'll buy. Chances are you know about Adobe RGB gamut and so on if you're looking at this one. The difference in colour range is exceptional - difficult greeny-blues that looks washed out on other monitors spring out on the 2413.
I dont' give it 5 star because:
The 6500K setting is not accurate on mine - it's too cool - out by maybe 300k or more. I don't use it, so I'm not bothered.
There is a slight purpling covering 2 cm bottom right corner - I've accepted this rightly or wrongly, but it's not really what I should have when paying double for a 'professional' monitor. I have seen this on another 2413, so it might be common.
Harldy any backlight bleed (though has, of course, IPS glow in dark room, to be expected.)
The factory set colour space sRGB and adobe RGB are pitch perfect.

Wonderful colour range. Neat menu system. Like the USB ports.
Added Dell sound bar which fits neatly and gives adequate audio for iplayer or YouTube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Richard This new Dell U2413 monitor is fantastic! It has a really clear display, can be very bright, has true colour, great connectivity and is very configurable with low power consumption. The monitor stand has the same portrait/landscape height adjustable functionality as earlier versions of the monitor.
Not ‘Bad points’ but worthy of mention are there’s no VGA socket (the future!) but it does offer DisplayPort, mini-DisplayPort, DVI-D and HDMI. The monitor comes configured with auto-colour adjustment set on. My daughter thought the monitor was faulty. Each time she played a YouTube clip, the colour changed. I set this feature off and it’s fine.
If you’re looking for a smart, high quality, low power monitor, this might be the one for you.
