Rated 5 out of 5 by McstylisT Top SSD ,, the price/performance King !!
Used many SSD drives over the years. I became quite fond of the Scandisk range personally. They offered great performance, solid reliability compared to other favored ranges. But this always had a good rep and I had to try it at some point.
Well , I cant fault it. Its a sizzling hot ssd with some great speeds to boot. I paid £57 delivered :-O and its exceeding my expectations at present. I think the advanced triple core processor helps out massively. I am hitting 550mbs read and a great 535mbs write ?? the specs are supposed to be 540 and 410 but mine is screaming away.
Cant comment on the reliability yet, but most Samsung products in this area are excellent. So yes this has to be the SSD king at present .... no arguments what so ever. But still like ScanDisk at second place for overall price/performance/quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Baconface A genuine plug & play upgrade.
Bought for a friend's media centre box. He was able to clone his existing windows 7 installation onto it no problem, & over the sata II interface on his board he now has a usable desktop in 11 seconds from a cold boot.

One of the best SSD drives on the market. Ideal for Windows Operating System. I would highly recommend that you also download Samsung Magician which will give you detailed information on your Samsung SSD and System and will also perform a Firmware update. It has to be the easiest Firmware Update Tool ever !!! Before you ask, the Firmware update left my data intact. I would always recommend a backup first though.
Windows Experience Index rates this drive 7.9 every time. I'm using a 4th Gen i3 CPU with 8GB Ram and boot up time is around 15 seconds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kaelthun Amazing performance at a reasonable price
I got this SSD because I had a bit of budget strain following a CPU + motherboard upgrade. I figured it would perform at the cross section between budget and midrange but this thing has blown me away. With RAPID mode enabled it really flies.
My benchmarking results are consistent with the ones found in the Hexus review for this so I suggest you check that one out. It specifically lists the values for RAPID and plain mode and you can see the difference.
Cold boot time with Windows 7 on SATA 6Gbps ports: 22 seconds
Logon time with antivirus and 12 on-logon apps: <5 seconds
Applications pop without delay, game loading goes through without a breeze and lots of MMORPGs just run that much faster. They usually load large texture packs and whatnot so it's a noticable improvement.
Granted, 120GB will leave you with a Win7 OS and just a game or 2 that fit on there. But if you configure your libraries in your user profile to go to a traditional media drive then you should have no trouble storing anything. I just move the game(s) I'm on at the moment between my media disk and the SSD and leave it at that. I've used NTFS junction points to keep my Steam games on the media drive and move the commonly used ones to the SSD on demand.
It's been great all round and I really didn't expect this value for the money I put in. I'm not sure how long it'll last and whether RAPID mode bring with it some reliability issues but for the price I'll probably get another one and run them in RAID 1 for redundancy anyway. It's a great piece of kit and I highly recommend getting one if you just simply want speed from an upgrade. You can chuck all the CPU horsepower and overclocking, GPU tuning and a new motherboard at your build but the most noticeable difference will come from an SSD.
This one fits the bill if you're looking for incredible speeds, good price and simplicity.
NOTE: The Samsung Magician software is amazing. It's a simple control centre that will manage the performance profile of this SSD with ease of use at the forefront of the experience. Just another feature that will make you wonder why you were running your operating system off an SSD for the last 4 years.

Since I'm still on SATA2 I only get about half the speed this drive can offer, but it is still a huge improvement over my existing hard drives.
Windows boots in seconds and all applications open quickly.
I would recommend this drive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by grimer Very quick. Laptop feels like new.
My Dell 1720 is six years old. I'd upgraded the CPU to 2.5GHz and fitted 6GB of RAM. Despite this, the laptop was taking ages to boot and was quite sluggish. I installed this 120GB SSD as a primary boot drive paired with a 500GB data drive. The laptop now boots in under a minute and programs open almost instantly.
If you have an old laptop/pc that needs a performance boost, I'd highly recommend an SSD.

This SSD is faster than my 256GB Crucial M4, both SSDs have the latest firmware. I'm using it in a Micro-ATX build. It's got the fastest load time I've experienced.
Bear in mind I'm using the Crucial M4 on an Intel motherboard in the SATAIII 6Gb/s port and I'm using the Samsung 840 EVO in an AMD 3Gb/s port. I think this shows that the speed of the SSD is more important than whether or not you have an Intel controller.
