As a growing number of homes contain more than one computer, their users must find ways to network them. The primary purpose for creating a home network tends to be to provide Internet access to all computers within the house. There are other good reasons, however. These include enabling LAN gaming, data backups from one machine to another and the sharing of music within the home.

RJ45 Cable Tester for Cables, Wall Points, Patch Panels, (Checks for no signal) CT-500 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lan tester Five Stars Moved into a new property where the contractor had not taken due care and attention when installing LAN faceplates. Rather than subject myself to an ongoing battle with the new builders (Will not mention their company name because our snag list was 3 minor items), I decided to upskill myself and fix the problem. This item was used to identify why the LAN connections did not work - and that they did. In our small cupboard we have a LAN faceplate which distributes a LAN in 3 further places in the house, however the office connection was not working. I plugged this device into the start and end connections and immediately saw there was a problem with 1 wire. I purchased a punchdown tool (Draper) and rewired all connections on the faceplate. There was a missing "light" on one of the connections which i fixed by rewiring the LAN faceplate using a Draper punchdown tool. not only have i fixed my house for LAN connections, but am able now to diagnose LAN issues not only on faceplates, but on cables themselves. Highly recommended, but needs a technical aptitude to begin with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use Scans the wires one by one, sequentially. There's a wheel to adjust the scanning rate. Feels sturdy enough. Only slight flaw is the tightness of the RJ45 sockets, but they should wear in with a bit of use.
