Product Overview
Building on the success of the of the powerful editBOX™ 4 series of desktop storage arrays, the editBOX™ 8 provides the ultimate solution for those application requiring extremely high performance coupled with massive amounts of storage capacity. With an all aluminum construction and ultra-quiet cooling, the editBOX™ 8 is both esthetically and acoustically compatible with even the most demanding of professional video environments.
The editBOX™ 8 series of storage arrays is directly targeted at video production and post-production using resolutions of uncompressed HD (1080I) and beyond. Capable of sustaining data transfer rates in excess of 500MB/s, editBOX™ 8 is actually capable of supporting multi-stream playback of up to 2K feature-film resolution. Further, with a data capacity up to 8TB, the editBOX™ 8 can store in excess of 12 hours of 1080I HD video. editBOX™ 8 provides the perfect storage compliment for virtually any high-resolution video platform; including those based on Aja, BlackmagicDesign, Bluefish444, Canopus (Edius HD), Harris/Leitch Velocity HD as well as Matrox AXIO.
Like every ProAVIO storage array, the editBOX™ 8 series incorporates the latest technologies to maximize system reliability, serviceability and supportability. The editBOX™ 8 system design features a robust 300W internal power supply to provide ample, reliable power to the system. Aluminum-alloy chassis construction coupled with direct airflow engineering and rear-mounted cooling fan combine to eliminate any potential thermal failures. Hot-swappable hard drive and fan modules ensure minimum downtime in the unlikely event of problems. Finally, SATAII or SAS drive options offer the perfect tradeoff between cost and 24/7 reliability.
editBOX™ 8 systems are available using either eSATA Multi-Port, Multi-Lane or Port Multiplier I/O interfaces.
